Dr. Bird-Pollan’s goal in this presentation is to discuss the undemocratic tendency in a portion of the population by sketching a psychological profile of the voter who is concerned with direct expression rather than representation.

Commentary by Norman Hirsch, psychiatrist in private practice, Cincinnati, OH.

Audience discussion will follow the presentation.

Dr. Bird-Pollan is the author of many papers, including “Fanon, Freud and Hegel; The Psychological Origins of Colonial Oppression,” forthcoming in Psychoanalysis of Culture and Society.

Dr. Bird-Pollan has a BA from UC San Diego, 1996
D.Phil. in German Literature Oxford, 2003
PhD in Philosophy, Vanderbilt, 2008
